The only Senior Center serving all of Sonoma Valley, Vintage House, in partnership with other organizations and businesses, hosts a vast array of programs and services for its members and the broader community. These include myRide, our free transportation program for seniors aged 60+ who are no longer able to drive; Soup's On! our weekly no-cost lunch program helping to alleviate social isolation while serving up a warm bowl of nutrition for the body and soul; ongoing support groups on topics such as early dementia, Alzheimer caregivers, CODA, caregiver support, and diabetes; an ongoing LGBT senior discussion group; a group for men in transition; and other critical community services services such as a flu vaccine clinic, an educational series on financial health, twice monthly food distributions for those on a limited budget, and information and resource referrals in the community for needs we are not able to address.
1) "myRide is a wonderful program. Without it, I would be sitting alone at home." (Millie, myRide rider)
2) "I've met many wonderful people and have heard many touching stories from riders who share their lives with me. Being a myRide volunteer is extremely rewarding."( John, myRide Driver)
3) "The Soup's On! program brings so many grateful seniors down to Vintage House. We are serving around 100 people per week! Some of the people are brand new to the Valley and they don't know anybody. Others have lived here for decades but are isolated and live alone. Soup's On! has become a social hub and people are making new friends while enjoying a nutritious meal in the company of others. The program is so important and is making a real difference in people's lives. (Mary Ellen, Program Volunteer)
The mission of Vintage House is to help Sonoma Valley seniors maintain their independence and enhance their quality of life. We achieve this through the delivery of community-based programs that address basic needs; offering social, cultural, and educational activities in a welcoming, respectful, and stimulating environment; and by facilitating community connection and resource referral.
