Please help us help seniors take care of the homes they love.

Description of project

We want seniors and people with disabilities to be able to live safely and independently in the homes and communities they love. We provide free home safety inspections, 24/7 emergency help, and a wide variety of handyperson services that help maintain homes inside and out like plumbing, electrical work, painting, and carpentry work, along with more routine jobs, like house cleaning and lawn care. We also do shopping, meal prep, and companionship for those who need them. Most of the jobs are done by retirees, who either volunteer their time or earn just $15/hr for what they do. This model has worked for us for over 23 years, and helped thousands of older homeowners age in place.

Of the approximately 500 households we serve, over 150 are low-income. They find themselves juggling grocery and medical bills with other essential expenses, like taxes and utilities. In many cases there just isn't anything left over for things like home maintenance. This has an impact not only on their self-esteem and quality of life, but can sometimes be dangerous and almost always leads to much more costly problems as time goes on.

For the past few years we've been working hard to raise funds to help offset the cost of services and help these seniors take care of their homes...and their self esteem. There is always more to do! Your donation will help us continue to do this important work.
