Golden Age Home opened its doors in 1960. Since that time, Golden Age Home has offered supportive services to Senior adults that will keep them active in their community.
These services range from providing three meals daily, housekeeping, lifeline alert call buttons, 24-hour a day staff and security to a wide range of social programs. Additional planned care, such as bathing, laundry and assistance with medication is available upon request. We offer a supportive housing facility designed for those who need extra help in their day-to-day lives but who do not require the 24-hour skilled nursing care found in traditional nursing homes. We find that a majority of our residents are able to take care of themselves generally but by offering help with those things that are more complicated (medications, making doctor's appointments, cooking, housekeeping, etc.) they can truly be successful. At Golden Age Home, we strive to take care of the "hard" things to allow the residents more time to enjoy their hobbies and socializing. Most importantly, our staff take care of each resident as their own family member. Our facility still has the small town feeling to it where everyone knows your name and puts your needs first. Longevity within the care staff means that the residents can rest assure that the person taking care of them knows their individual needs.
Golden Age Home has several providers who come into the facility to offer care to take the hassle out of getting to and from appointments. Providers include but are not limited to podiatrist, psychiatrist, home health nurses & therapists. Our bus can also transport to appointments for a minimal fee & has a bi-weekly trip to HEB & Wal-Mart.
Golden Age Home is transforming communities and uniting people by offering services at affordable rates to Senior Adults who would otherwise not be able to afford the services. Golden Age Home is also developing leaders with every team member that joins our family. Every team member is thoroughly trained to provide Excellent Quality Care to every resident.
As a non-profit organization, Golden Age Home began as a dream in the hearts & minds of the citizens of First United Methodist Church in Lockhart in the late 1950s. It was apparent to these concerned Lockhart citizens that there was a need for a Christian environment for the elderly who could no longer maintain their own homes. There these ladies and gentlemen could receive necessary medical care, a balance diet, and planned activities. The doors of this facility opened in November of 1960 and has operated as a nonprofit organization since that time. A Board of Directors give guidance to the operations of Golden Age Home. The heart of each of our Board Members is for the residents. Nicole Burnett is often heard stating "I am fortunate to work with a company who sees the people not the dollar sign at the bottom of the page. Not all facilities in this business operate that way."
While GAH is a nonprofit organization, that does not affect the way we meet Assisted Living regulations. We are proud to have received deficiency-free surveys since 2015. Being a nonprofit organization means we can choose to offer a program like the subsidized independent living. It means we can receive grants and community support. It means that there is a Board of Directors making the hard decisions not just one person. And most importantly it means the bottom line is about people not money.
The Golden Age Home Assisted Living Center was the perfect fit for Dad. He did not want to leave his home, but definitely needed assistance with his daily living activities. He quickly developed positive relationships with the other residents and caring, professional staff and administrators. The staff treated him with respect, dignity, and became a second family. The staff members always went the extra mile to insure quality care with the utmost patience. It was not just a job to them.
The Director is an outstanding administrator who kept me constantly informed regarding Dad's mental and physical health. She was very knowledgeable and immediately made the adjustments in Dad's care plan as needed as his health declined. The loving environment and many activities provided a nurturing "home away from home" for Dad. Our family felt blessed to have found a wonderful place for him. Linda Simonson
