Since 1875, Heartland Family Service has responded to the needs of our area's most vulnerable children and families. Each year, our 50 programs serve over 52,000 individuals of all ages from over 15 locations in east central Nebraska and southwest Iowa. We provide critical human services in the follow program areas: Child & Family Well-Being, Counseling & Prevention, and Housing, Safety, & Financial Stability.
One of our many programs is the Generations Community Center, which offers recreational, social, educational, and nutritional programs to meet the needs of seniors over the age of 60. Recently, the Generations Community Center expanded its scope of work to involve individuals in the North Omaha community in having a say in the services and activities that are provided. This program is operated out of the Heartland Family Service North Omaha Intergenerational Human Services Campus and is a well-known location in North Omaha. The Generations Community Center provides a variety of socialization and recreation opportunities for the seniors through fun activities, including Tai Chi, crafts, quilting, art, birthday and holiday celebrations, and fun field trips.
The mission of Heartland Family Service is to strengthen individuals and families in our community through education, counseling, and support services.
