We are raising funds to cover the cost of membership for 10 older adults. As members, we provide up to three services per week, such as rides to medical appointments and delivery of groceries. They are also able to attend any activity that we offer, including fitness classes, educational talks, and social activities, such as book clubs and lunch groups.
The Cleveland & Woodley Park Village is a non-profit organization serving older members of our community by sponsoring book clubs, yoga, meditation, walking groups, poetry readings, educational talks, and more! During COVID, our activities are either outside or on conference or Zoom calls. The Village also provide assistance with such things as rides to medical appointments, deliveries of groceries and medication, or technology assistance. All services are provided by neighborhood volunteers that have passed background and driving record reviews as well as undergone training about how to work older adults.
Our members experience less social isolation, feel engaged with their community, and are able to remain living independently. In 2020, we offered 244 programs and provided 997 services to 102 members/community members. Additionally, throughout the year, we made 2,350 check-in calls to 150 members to ensure their safety during the pandemic.
Our mission is to create opportunities for older adults to be actively engaged, support those who need it with volunteer assistance to help them live independently, and work to create a welcoming community for people of all ages.
We envision a supportive neighborhood where older residents thrive and are a vital thread in the fabric of our community.
Our work is guided by the following values:
• Empower independence.
• Serve with kindness.
• Create connections.
• Be there.
