More About Us

Benevilla's client-centered programs are made possible by more than 400 volunteers and 165 employees. Our programs include:
Volunteer Home Services: Volunteers provide services for elderly and disabled adults, including grocery shopping, assisted transportation to medical appointments, friendly visitors, handyman services, and weekly errands.
Benevilla CARES Information & Resources: Human services professionals help those in need identify, understand and use community services.
Adult Life Enrichment Day Programs: Our five-day programs provide an enriching experience for those who no longer can care for themselves, while simultaneously providing respite for caregivers. Each center features specialized programming to meet specific needs (i.e. memory care, physical therapy, intellectual challenges).
Wirtzie's Child Development Center: This preschool and childcare program provides a safe and nurturing environment for children ages 1-5 to explore and grow.
Art's Center for All Ages - Intergenerational Program: This joint program between Wirtzie's and Lucy Anne's Place Life Enrichment Day Program provides structured time for children to spend with older adults.
Birt's Bistro: This caf├ę, catering service and bookstore is an all community gathering space where classes are held and works by local artists are featured.
Family Resource Center: The FRC provides parents and caregivers of children (birth-5) access to information and resources around child development, health and parenting and has a support groups for kinship families where non-parental relatives serve as the child's primary caregiver.

In addition, Benevilla CARES received more than 4,400 requests for help with information and resources and our Caregiver Support Groups, reached more than 275 caregivers.

"I've been very fortunate to have met Mike (my Benevilla Home Services volunteer). For over a year he has made my golden years even more golden since he shops for me and not matter how long the list, he brings me everything. Having this wonderful and caring volunteer gives me more incentive to keep myself moving and to care for myself. Thank you Benevilla!"

Corrine has expressed her delight with Friendly Visitor volunteer Jodi and her young girls. Jodi visits with her every week, and Corrine says the visits have absolutely become her life line! As a Master's level social worker in her career, it has been difficult for Corrine to ask for help. She's had been very lonely and was experiencing several health issues, including depression. She says Jodi is such a great example for her daughters and always thanks Corrine for allowing them to come visit. She reciprocates Jodi's gratitude. They're all having so much fun, and she loves that the girls make drawings for her. She never had children, so they've truly become like family in the short couple months since they've been matched. Corrine says her health has even improved, and she so looks forward to each visit. Of Volunteer Home Services, she says, "it's truly something very special!"

"I hope donors understand that their gifts means so much. For me it means that I have a piece of my life back. I feel like Jan again. Some of my joy has returned because my burden is shared with the caring staff at Benevilla."
