Fundraising Campaign

The Helping Hands Fund provides adult daycare for those struggling with Alzheimer's, dementia and special needs, two hot meals a day, snacks, baths, personal hygiene assistance and shelter to our neighbors living under the poverty level in the Omaha metro area. Franciscan Adult Day Center is one of only two non-profit facilities in our entire area serving the disabled. We are also the caregiver to the most US Military Veterans in the state of Nebraska. With the increase in people being diagnosed with dementia, resources are few and far between in the Omaha metro area. The Helping Hands Fund is crucial to our community. Recently, adult day cares have closed in Omaha because caring for the disabled young and elderly is not a profit making opportunity. This is the tremendous need that we fill and continue to aid with funds through the Helping Hands Fund.

People served are Medicaid, Medicaid waiver, hurricane survivors, US Military Veterans, developmentally delayed, Alzheimer's, dementia, stroke, Parkinson's and special needs individuals like "Joe". Generous donors enable us to serve people like "Joe". People like "Joe" will benefit from this gift and we serve "Joe" with dignity, just as he served our country.

"Joe" is a U.S. Army Veteran, a survivor of Hurricane Katrina and lives with his niece. After the death of his wife and the devastation of the hurricane, Joe had a mental breakdown and was no longer able to care for himself. He suffers from dementia and other issues that doctors are unable to diagnosis. Joe attends the Franciscan Center and he feels safe, loved and cared for each day. The Helping Hands Fund aids the family to cover the small fee for his 11 hours of care in the Franciscan Center.

More About Us

A vibrant and dynamic team of our Board of Trustees and New Cassel Foundation staff raises funds for the life enriching programs and services at New Cassel and Franciscan Adult Day Center. Our generous donors share a vision to ensure a loving, faith filled community for the spiritual, physical and social well-being of the people we are honored to serve.

"My dad is going to be 98 years old and has Alzheimer's. There was a point that I knew he needed more help, but we didn't want him to go to a nursing home, or staying home just watching TV. We felt that dad needed to be active and to socialize with other people. Dad has been going to Franciscan Adult Day Center for about three years and we have no regrets. Dad seems to be very happy; there are even time he doesn't want to go home! The Franciscan Center has become his second family." ~ Barb

"My mom is the most precious person in my life...and I just want everybody to know that there is someplace where you can leave your loved ones that you can trust, feel comfortable, be anxiety-free and know that they're going to be well taken-care of.  That is what I found in Franciscan Adult Day Center.  To sum up what this place means for us is peace of mind."   ~ Pastor Ramona
