HESSCO has seen a 75% growth in our Meals on Wheels program since COVID-19. We have accommodated all new requests and have not turned any senior away who is need of a meal. With protocols in place of providing protective masks, gloves and hand sanitizer for all our volunteers, our unanticipated expenses are substantial. With funds from Give65, we plan to continue our tradition of providing a special holiday meal at Thanksgiving and Christmas (with an added Care and Compassion Goodie Bag.) Our federal and state funding does not pay for these holiday meals or the care and compassion bags. HESSCO is committed to providing our consumers these special meals and simple gifts that bring needed cheer during the holiday season. We believe we will have a record need for these meals this year! Please donate to help us with this program and additional costs associated with the Meals on Wheels program!
HESSCO provides a full array of programs and services to support consumers and their caregivers. Our services are designed to support an individual's choice to remain in their home for as long as they can. We provide everything from personal care and homemaking, to Meals on Wheels and more. Our dedicated Care Managers work with our consumers to develop care plans that will support them in their wish to remain at home and live life with dignity. Last year we provided 1,116 older adults with 310,899 hours of homemaking, chore, personal care or companion services. 177,932 Meals were delivered to senior's homes or served at our community dining centers. Our Care Managers and Nurses made 3,249 visits to assess care needs and coordinate services. We must continually raise funds to support our ongoing mission.
"Getting Meals on Wheels means that my mom has to cook less and shop less. She likes the food and she likes that the service is so reliable.Especially now, during a pandemic! At a time when older people are particularly vulnerable, I am so grateful that Meals on Wheels is continuing to serve people like my mom. Thank you for your care and service!" - Susan.
