Glenville, New York
Care Links, a program of CAPTAIN Community Human Services, provides non-medical supportive services to seniors ages 60+, and their caregivers, in the Southern Saratoga County region of New York State, with a goal of helping seniors age in place at home. These services, provided by volunteers, include in-home visiting, respite, transportation, shopping and errands, light housekeeping and chores, and telephone reassurance calls. All services are provided at no cost to the senior or their family. Care Links is a vital resource for rural seniors who lack transportation to medical appointments, those who are isolated or have no family members to check in on them, and seniors who simply need a little assistance to remain in their own home. In addition, Care Links aids caregivers who are caring for seniors in their homes by providing respite.
The Care Links program helps over 100 seniors each year with a variety of services to help them age in place at home, primarily through a core of dedicated community volunteers. Volunteers make home visits, drive seniors to appointments, and provide a friendly face and someone to talk to. Care Links volunteers typically drive over 50,000 miles each year to help seniors in our community reach doctors, grocery stores and community agencies.
CAPTAIN Community Human Services supports and empowers people of all ages to reach their goals of personal growth and self-sufficiency. We strengthen communities.
As a volunteer-driven organization, CAPTAIN CHS strives to be a recognized leader in finding effective solutions to social issues in the communities we serve.
Care Links mission is to recruit and train volunteers to provide non-medical support services to community residents 60 years and over to help them age in place.
