When you give to Alive, you support programs that make us unique among hospice providers, such as affordable grief counseling for the community, free education on end-of-life care, and financial assistance for patients and their families.
Our donors are part of a special legacy. Alive took root more than 40 years ago in Middle Tennessee when a small group of local pioneers (now honored in the Health Care Hall of Fame) came together to establish the third hospice in the United States. Today, we remain true to our local roots as an innovator and leader, helping our friends and neighbors in Middle Tennessee live well until the end.
This same spirit of innovation and community service fueled our quick response to COVID-19. We expanded our Henry Hooker Alive Connect telehospice program to give our social workers and chaplains a way to fight isolation for patients we serve in quarantined facilities. Our Grief Center added virtual counseling options and shared easy-to-do art therapy and self-care projects for people staying healthy at home. Once again musicians provided support for the Alive community by sharing videos created especially to boost the spirits of our patients. These are just a few examples of how our care goes above and beyond.
Can you give today to support our patients and families?
Thanks to community support, we are able to go above and beyond standard hospice care with special offerings such as financial support for patients, grief counseling for adults and children, free community education, and professional training.
Alive serves nearly 4,000 patients and family members each year and trains and supports a volunteer corps of 400. Approximately 90% of the care we provide takes place in our patients' homes. We also have two hospice residences staffed by our own doctors and care teams. Our professional grief counselors provide support to anyone in the community who needs it (not just those with a loved one in our care). We offer individual counseling, support groups, special workshops, and grief camps for kids and teens.
We provide loving care to people with life-threatening illnesses, support to their families and service to the community in a spirit of enriching lives.
